Chevy SB/BB V8 Low-Profile Pro Series Pro Billet Distributor with Crab Cap
Low-Profile Pro Billet Distributor with Crab Cap for Chevy Small Block and Big Block V8 Engines
When engine bay space is limited — whether you're running a tall intake manifold, a large carburetor, or a hood clearance-sensitive build — a standard tall-cap distributor can become a problem. This TSP Pro Series Pro Billet distributor is built around a low-profile crab cap design that reduces overall height, giving you the clearance you need without sacrificing ignition performance on Chevy small block Gen. I or Mark IV big block V8 applications.
The machined aluminum housing is precision-built for strength and dimensional accuracy, and the magnetic trigger delivers a clean, consistent signal to your external ignition control box and coil across the full RPM range. Mechanical advance with three tunable bushings and four springs gives you direct control over your total advance curve — a key advantage for performance carbureted builds, engine swaps, and race-oriented street applications where factory-style computer-controlled timing is not part of the equation.
The adjustable slip collar allows you to fine-tune distributor phasing independently of the housing position, a useful feature when working with custom timing setups or performing precision ignition tuning. The steel distributor gear is compatible with cast iron hydraulic and solid flat-tappet camshafts — verify gear material compatibility with your camshaft manufacturer if your build uses a roller or specialty cam profile.
An external ignition control box is required and not included. This distributor produces 35,000+ volts through a compatible external coil. Includes three advance bushings, four advance springs for mechanical advance tuning.
Applications
Compatible with Chevrolet Small Block V8 Gen. I (262, 265, 267, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, 400 CID) and Chevrolet Big Block V8 Gen. II Mark IV (396, 402, 427, 454 CID). Confirmed common vehicle applications include Chevrolet Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, Impala, C10, Corvette, and GMC C/K trucks. Low-profile crab cap design is intended for engine bays where standard-height distributor caps create clearance conflicts. Will not fit tall deck blocks. Will not fit if a governor is installed.
